The Spire collection is lovingly created for the wellbeing of our children's feet and with a strong respect for nature and a strengthened focus on the use of natural, recycled, and biodegradable materials.
Look for the spire symbol when you shop bisgaard. The Spire symbol indicates that at least one of the main components of the shoe contains one or more responsible elements.
Vegetable tanning is the world's cleanest and most responsible leather tanning manufacturing method. The leather is tanned using natural extracts from plant roots, trees, leaves and berries. Resulting in in biodegradable and chrome-free leather.
bisgaard’s vegetable-tanned leather is tanned in Portugal by specialized experts that have unique skills within the leather industry. The leather is so clean that it breaks down naturally in nature, leaving no trace of chemicals.
Vegetable-tanned leather is natural and behaves just like your skin - the deep and unique color shades change and develop personal characteristics over time. Extend life with the right care.
bisgaard's recycled textile lining is made with recycled polyester. By recycling polyester from everyday waste, we minimize our environmental footprint when creating new materials for our shoes. We do this because the production of recycled polyester requires less energy and crude oil than the production of conventional polyester.
bisgaard's recycled soles are produced with recycled rubber, which ensures the right elasticity and abrasion resistance. It is important for us to be able to offer a supportive, flexible and durable sole. That is why we are constantly working to increase the proportion of recycled rubber, without compromising on the quality of our soles.
We believe that our choice to use organic cotton is a better alternative for nature, for employees and for our children's feet. Our organic cotton is completely clean and is made without the use of pesticides and insecticides, resulting in a clean and sustainable product that is free of harmful chemicals.
Our expertise lies in natural materials and that is why our wool is carefully selected. It is important for us to work with sustainable and comfortable materials that are soft and durable. At bisgaard, we only use pure and natural wool, which is made with respect for the environment.
Our wool comes from specialized farms in New Zealand, which ensure the animal welfare of the sheep who supply the most beautiful wool for our footwear. The wool comes exclusively from sheep that are not exposed to the mulesing method, as it is not a method we want to support.
