Rubber boot care

Bisgaard rain boots are made from top-quality natural rubber, which can last a long time if properly cared for. Natural rubber contains natural oils that help make it soft and elastic. When you use natural rubber to produce rain boots, the rubber gradually begins to dry out as the oils evaporate over time.

That is why we recommend regular care and maintenance of your rain boots by treating them with oil. There are many great products for treating rain boots available on the market. We recommend using products that do not contain silicone. You can even use household oils such as olive or coconut oil to care for your rain boots.

Here are a few simple, helpful tips on how to keep your bisgaard rain boots in great condition for as long as possible:

1.  Permeate the boots:

Before using the boots, we recommend that you permeate them with a sealant like a natural oil product as mentioned above. The permeation will add an additional protective coating to the natural rubber and keep your boots soft and looking great.

2.  Clean the boots after use:

Clean the outside of the rain boots with a soft, slightly damp sponge or cloth with a little dishwashing soap. You can use a brush to clean the sole.

3.  Allow the boots to air-dry:

If the boots have gotten wet, they should only be allowed to dry in moderate heat. Do not place the boots in an airing cupboard. You should also avoid placing them directly on or by a warm radiator, as this can cause the rubber to dry out and crack. Furthermore, avoid placing the boots in a spot where they are exposed to direct sunlight for long periods, as this too can dry out the rubber and cause the color to fade. We recommend storing the boots in a cool, dry and dark location. The removable sole is provided with thermo on the bottom which gives an insulating effect. The sole can be removed and dried after an active day in the playground.

4.  Apply new coats of oil at regular intervals:

After making sure the boots are clean and dry, you can add a thin layer of a natural oil product of your choice with a soft sponge or cloth.
